How do You Ensure Fire Door Compliance?

The main way to keep your fire doors compliant is with regular inspections and maintenance by a trained professional. Following the tragedy at Grenfell, the rules around the frequency of fire door inspection and maintenance plans have tightened. As a general rule, you need to inspect fire doors every 6 months, but this increases for high-use areas.

However, fire door compliance is a dynamic, ongoing process. It’s often easier and more cost-effective to remediate an existing fire door than it is to replace the whole door set. We’ll help you to implement effective processes to keep on top of your fire doors so they don’t get beyond the point of remediation. Speak to our team today to book your appointment.

There are different types of fire doors, each with its own specific requirements. In order for your fire doors to be compliant, all the elements must be checked and certified as compliant, including:

  • The frame and any gaps around the door
  • Ironmongery, including handles and hinges
  • Signage on and around the door
  • Intumescent fire and smoke seals
  • Glass and glazing
  • Self-closing devices

We conduct comprehensive surveys and can supply and install new fire doors where necessary. Where remedial work is required, our in-house specialists carry it out to the highest industry standards. As consultants, we can advise you on the best course of action for your building.
