Fire Door Compliance
Fire door compliance assesses the two key factors of fire doors: the various components which make up a fire door set, and the processes in place to keep fire doors in good working order. Building owners have a legal responsibility to ensure their fire doors are compliant with the Fire Safety Order 2005.
Any slight alteration to a fire door can prevent it from working effectively, placing lives at risk in the event of a fire. It’s crucial to have fire doors regularly assessed by a professional, or as soon as any noticeable changes or damages occur to ensure you remain in line with fire door compliance. Its worth noting that proper fire door installation is the first step in ensuring that your fire doors meet legal and safety standards.
How do You Ensure Fire Door Compliance?
The main way to keep your fire doors compliant is with regular inspections and maintenance by a trained professional. Following the tragedy at Grenfell, the rules around the frequency of fire door inspection and maintenance plans have tightened. As a general rule, you need to inspect fire doors every 6 months, but this increases for high-use areas.
However, fire door compliance is a dynamic, ongoing process. It’s often easier and more cost-effective to remediate an existing fire door than it is to replace the whole door set. We’ll help you to implement effective processes to keep on top of your fire doors so they don’t get beyond the point of remediation. Speak to our team today to book your appointment.
